The New Poets Society

New Poets Society is excited to be able to encourage high school students continued expressions of creativity. We believe these students are tomorrow's leaders destined to enrich life, cultural and social changes in the future by positive, thoughtful contributions leading to achievement.

Our goal is to help them define their poetic voice and learn how to find audiences and eventually get published, or to find careers as writers in a number of occupations.

What we do:

For the project we raise funds to support a poetry contest for high school age students with scholarships as awards for the eventual winners.  Schools will be invited to be a part of the contest every year.   The funding derived from donations will be used in providing scholarships to the finalists and winners of the contest.

 As part of the project, the Board Members of New Poets Society will appear in classrooms, as adjunct instructors, to encourage young student writers to continue to find and express their creative writing skills.  We speak to and supply, separate handouts to students in the Eastside High schools.

We hope to increase our cash scholarships and are asking for your help. As little as $25 can make a huge difference. Young people are our future, so rewarding their creativity gives us all hope for a better world. Please give what you can. Your donation is tax deductable and you will receive a receipt for tax purposes.
